Philip Goldenberg - Consultant

Philip Goldenberg is a Corporate Finance specialist with wide-ranging experience in UK domestic corporate finance and governance, with particular emphasis on mergers, acquisitions, flotations, issues and reconstructions and employee share ownership; he was involved in the conception and enactment of the profit-sharing provisions of the 1978 Finance Act.

He advised the DTI on its recent Company Law Review, and his recommendations were accepted on directors' duties with regard to shareholders and stakeholders.

He also acted as Legal Adviser to the RSA's Tomorrow's Company Inquiry and assisted The Centre of Tomorrow's Company with its evidence to the Higgs Inquiry.

MA (Oxon); admitted a solicitor 1972; a partner at SJ Berwin from 1983 to 2004 where he edited their Business Guide to Directors' Responsibilities; consultant at Michael Conn Goldsobel, 2004 to date; FRSA 1992; FSALS 1998. Former Member of the CBI's Management Committee.

Current outside interests: a Trustee, and Joint Treasurer of The Royal Society of Arts; a Trustee and Company Secretary of the Tuberous Sclerosis Association; Deputy Leader of the Executive, Woking Borough Council; various other Liberal Democrat activities.
